Cultural Council

The mission of the Brookfield Cultural Council is to promote excellence, access, education, and diversity in the arts, humanities, and interpretive sciences in order to improve the quality of life for Brookfield residents and to contribute to the economic vitality of our community.

The council is funded by both the town and the state. With the money from the town, the council annually puts on the Memorial Day Parade, the summer concerts and baking contests on the common, the tag sale and chili contest, the Pumpkinfest, the tree lighting, and the holiday house decorating contest, as well as occasional dances and other events.

With the money from the state, the council gives grants to organizations and artists for cultural undertakings that serve Brookfield residents--grants are due mid-October every year (see the Massachusetts Cultural Council website for more information on applying for a grant).

Council members are appointed by the Selectmen. The council can have between 5 and 22 members, and meets once a month.  Click here to view any upcoming committee meetings.
