Want your voice to be heard regarding cable TV programming?  How about assessing the cable needs of the community and recommending policy changes? 

Bottom Line: Contract negotiations come up once every ten years - don't miss this once-in-a-decade opportunity to become involved!   

Members of the Town's Cable TV Advisory Committee will be able to assist  and advise the Select Board on the cable franchising process.  This may include the creation of a packet representing what subscribers in Brookfield may desire from the Cable TV provider!

CABLE TV ADVISORY COMMITTEE CHARGE 
 (CTAC)

Purpose:

The purpose of the Cable TV Advisory Committee is to assist and advise the Brookfield Select Board (“Issuing Authority”) on the cable franchising process. This may include the creation of a packet representing what subscribers in Brookfield may desire from the Cable TV Provider.

Per Federal and Commonwealth regulations, the Cable TV Advisory Committee only has the ability to intercede in cable TV services. Any issues regarding internet, voice (telephone), or satellite TV do not fall under the Cable TV Advisory Committee purview.

Composition:

The Cable TV Advisory Committee shall be comprised of five (5) Brookfield citizens, appointed by the Select Board. The terms of the Advisory Committee shall be in one (1), two (2), and three (3) year terms, staggered, in order to see that the appointments expire in successive years. The initial appointments will be as follows, with the longer terms to be filled first:

One (1) member to a one (1) year term

Two (2) members to two (2) year terms

Two (2) members to three (3) year terms

In order to encompass the diverse and varied needs of the community, the committee shall include individuals of diverse and multicultural backgrounds and be familiar with both the technical and legal aspects of the cable industry.
