The Town of Brookfield is seeking qualified applicants for a part-time Municipal Clerk to assist the Financial and HR departments. Hours range from 10-19 per week, depending on seasonal workload. The position requires a variety of clerical work including supporting Treasury, Collection, and Human Resource functions as directed by Treasurer and/or Collector. Qualified candidates should have office experience. Municipal experience is a plus.
Pay is $20-25 per hour depending upon experience.

Municipal Clerk (Financial/HR)
Purpose:
Performs clerical duties in support of departmental operations.
Supervision/Supervisory Responsibilities:
The position receives direction from the supervisor.
Essential Functions:
- Performs a variety of clerical work including word and data processing, filing, copying, scanning, and handling correspondence
- Frequently interacts with members of the public, federal, state and/or local government officials, and Town employees
- Receives and screens visitors and telephone calls, providing information
- Performs similar or related work as required or assigned
- Support Treasury, Collection, and Human resource functions as directed by Treasurer and/or Collector.
Competencies:
- Excellent communication skills
- Ability to deal tactfully, courteously, and professionally with all persons
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and to exercise sound judgment and discretion
- Highly organized, detail oriented, takes initiative and able to work independently Ability to handle multiple tasks, prioritize effectively, meet deadlines, and deliver high quality work
- Reliability and professional personal presentation essential
- Operates standard office equipment, including a computer, keyboard, and multi-line telephone system
- Proficiency in typing and basic word processing software (such as MS Word),
Education and Experience/Other Requirements:
High school diploma and one year of experience in a relevant position and knowledge of general office procedures; or any equivalent combination of education, training and experience. Municipal experience preferred.
