Communications Committee
Charge
The Communications Committee, under the direction of the Select Board, develops, recommends and/or promotes strategies, policies, procedures and content for Brookfield’s public-facing communications.
Committee Composition
The Communications Committee will be comprised of five members with staggered three-year terms as annually appointed by the Select Board. Each member is required to be a Brookfield resident.
Responsibilities
Assists the Select Board and Town Administrator in the development and maintenance of the town’s website
Advises the Select Board and Town Administrator regarding the creation of a town social media policy
Establishes guidelines, in accordance with the town’s social media policy, to promote a unified social media presence for the town and its boards and committees.
Recommends methods, guidelines and policies to ensure appropriate video and audio coverage of town board and committee meetings
Collaborates with town employees and board/committee members in order to facilitate information dissemination between the town and its citizens so as to maximize efficiency and effectiveness
Works with technology professionals, subject matter experts, and town media resources, to develop and maintain timely and consistent methods of public communication
Performs an annual self-evaluation of its performance with the goal of optimizing the quality of communications delivered to the public, municipal employees, and the Select Board
Executes other duties and responsibilities as required by the Select Board and/or Town Administrator
