The Town of Brookfield and the Central Massachusetts Regional Planning Commission (CMRPC) are conducting the Brookfield Town Center Study. The study will identify ways to support the town center’s businesses, public spaces, accessibility, walkability, and historic character.
As part of this work, CMRPC staff will conduct two related site visits:

Guided walking tour: Monday, September 21, 2026, at noon:** CMRPC staff and town representatives will walk through the town center to discuss local conditions, important sites, and connections between Central Street, the Town Common, Prouty Street, and Lewis Field.

Detailed site assessment: anticipated Tuesday, September 29, 2026:** CMRPC staff will observe building exteriors and public spaces, take ground-level photographs, and may collect drone imagery. Wednesday, September 30, may be used as a weather or scheduling backup date.
The site assessment will be conducted from public streets, sidewalks, and other publicly accessible areas. No interior inspections or entry onto private property are planned.
This work is part of a planning study, not a code-enforcement or building-inspection activity. Findings will help inform recommendations for future town-center improvements.
