A Message from the Chair of the Board of Health

As my term on the Board of Health comes to an end following Monday’s election, I wanted to take a moment to reflect and say thank you.

Three years ago, I was asked by the previous Chair to join the Board with the hope of helping streamline processes—particularly for local businesses navigating food permitting. For the process seems to have come with confusion with a changeover of agents and boards. While the journey did not unfold exactly as I had hoped, it has been an invaluable learning experience.

Serving this town has given me a deeper appreciation for the important balance between protecting public health and supporting the businesses that help our community thrive. I strongly encourage residents to stay engaged, pay attention to Board matters, and continue supporting the Board in their efforts to maintain that balance while preserving the local authority and decision-making our Board of Health is intended to have.

Please remember to vote this Monday, May 2nd!

A very special thank you to Mike Seery, Karen Trainor, Jacob Gorham, the Communications Team, and Deb Young for their selfless support, guidance, and dedication—especially during my transition into the Chair role these past two months. I truly could not have done it without your time, assistance, and willingness to help.

Following the election, Kimberly Simons, current Vice Chair, will serve as Interim Chair until the Board reorganizes at its next scheduled meeting on May 27. Kim is thoughtful, kind, and dedicated, and I know she will continue navigating this transition with care and professionalism.
