The Town Clerk is an elected official who keeps the records of birth, marriage, and deaths. The Clerk also runs elections and keeps the official records of town meetings and bylaws. Initiative petitions are delivered to the Town Clerk for certification. Other duties of the Town Clerk include issuing marriage licenses ($25), dog licenses ($11; $7 for neutered or spayed) and registering businesses in town ($20 for a 4 year certificate).

Certified copies of vital records (marriage, birth, death) of residents of Brookfield are available for $5/copy. Fee is payable upon request.  If requesting by mail, the correct fee along with a stamped self-addressed envelope must be included. If requesting by e-mail, please include a contact phone number.

 2012 ELECTION INFORMATION

ANNUAL TOWN ELECTION
MONDAY MAY 7, 2012
7:00 A.M. – 7:00 P.M.

Nomination papers for the offices on the town election ballot are available at the Town Clerk's office in the Town Hall. They must be completed and returned by 5pm on March 16 in order to have your name on the ballot. STATE PRESIDENTIAL PRIMARY
TUESDAY, MARCH 6, 2012
7:00 A.M. – 8:00 P.M.

Feb 15th (Wednesday) is the DEADLINE to change political party or register to vote for the Presidential Primary. The Town Clerk's Office will be open Feb 15from 9:00 am to 8:00 pm.  What this means is if you are a Democrat and wish to take a Republican ballot this will be the last day to change registration. Un-enrolled voters can declare their party preference on the day of election at the polls.

The STATE PRIMARY ELECTION is Tuesday March 6, 2012.  Polls open in Brookfield at 7:00 am and close at 8:00 pm.
 
Out of town on ELECTION DAY? 
Absentee Ballot Applications and Absentee Ballots are available in the Town Clerk's Office now. The DEADLINE to complete an application form for Absentee Ballots is Monday March 5th at 12 NOON.
